This article is intended to be a exposition of why a Wiki approach should be helpful in refining scientific discourse within psychiatry.
First and foremost, psychiatry as a discipline alomost requires a hypertext approach.
Second, the quality of written articles in the psychiatric literature has been diminishing, probably because of the economic demands on print journals. A Wiki is a way to circumvent that economic pressure, and lower significantly the cost per article.
Finally, because of the role of psychiatry as a medical discipline, there has been less and less understanding by academnic departments of the importance of developing a philosophy of science in parallel with the incorporation of experimental progress into clinical practice.
